Portrait photographer Annie Leibovitz gained recognition with her first photographs for Rolling Stone, including the image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono that appeared on the 1971 cover. Leibovitz has since created a notable and often controversial body of work for Vanity Fair, including the 1991 cover photograph of Demi Moore, nude and seven months pregnant. Leibovitz has six books—most recently, A Photographer’s Life 1990-2005—and will publish a new book in the fall. Her appearance in Portland is one of only four that she will make in 2008.
