Kristin Thiel Oregon

Kristin Thiel, co-editor and contributor of Fire & Water: Stories from the Anthropocene, is based in Portland, Oregon, and she has been a professional in the world of words for nearly twenty years. She has written nonfiction titles for young people, book reviews and corporate white papers, and short fiction and nonfiction included in anthologies; a line from one of her short stories was even selected for a how-to book as an example of using gesturing effectively. She has edited for individuals (like Terah Shelton Harris), publishing houses (such as Blue Dot Kids Press, Coffee House Press, and Oregon’s own Beyond Words), and organizations (including Lewis & Clark College and Portland State University). Fire & Water: Stories from the Anthropocene made the 35 Impressive Indie Books of 2021 list published by Independent Book Review. Ecolit called Fire & Water a new environmental book of note. Nicole Walker named Fire & Water as one of the best books that makes science a story.
