Anis Mojgani is the author of five books of poetry, is a two time National Poetry Slam Champion, and winner of the International World Cup Poetry Slam. A multiple TEDx speaker, he has appeared on HBO, and NPR, and has done commissions for the Getty Museum, the Peabody Essex Museum, and the Portland Timbers. Originally from New Orleans, Anis currently lives in Portland, OR, where he serves on the Board of Directors for Literary Arts.
Keynote // Elena Passarello
Actor, writer, and recipient of a 2015 Whiting Award, Passarello was awarded the 2018 Oregon Book Award in creative nonfiction for her book, Animals Strike Curious Poses. Her first collection, Let Me Clear My Throat, won the gold medal for nonfiction at the 2013 Independent Publisher Awards and was a finalist for the 2014 Oregon Book Award.
The evening featured two slam poetry performances by Tea Johnson, 2016 Verselandia! Champion, and Jolly Wrapper, 2017 Verselandia! finalist.
