The series begins on October 12 with George Saunders, author of four collections of short stories, a novella, and a book of essays, whose most recent novel Lincoln in the Bardo is a New York Times best seller. Dr. Reza Aslan, host of the CNN series Believer and author of four books, including #1 New York Times best seller Zealot, will join us on November 16. On January 18, we will welcome Jesmyn Ward, author of the memoir Men We Reaped and the novel Salvage the Bones, which won the 2011 National Book Award. Our fourth event on February 8 will feature Claudia Rankine, author of five collections of poetry including Citizen: An American Lyric, which received the 2014 National Book Critics Circle Award in Poetry. The season will close on May 8 with author Viet Thanh Nguyen, whose novel The Sympathizer is a New York Times best seller and won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
