Complexity and Simplicity: Unlocking the Genius of Your Craft

June 15 - July 27, 2021 (no meeting July 6)
Tuesdays, 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm Pacific Time (six sessions)
online via Zoom
Instructor: Radhika Sharma

Balancing craft elements without calling attention to them is the hallmark of a virtuoso. Reimagine the world of your story by examining its craft subsets in this intensive workshop for advanced writers. Learn new techniques to strengthen your narrative and deeply inhabit compelling fictional worlds. Participants will analyze their own works with a critical and compassionate eye. This class is ideal for writers who have some experience with craft. Students can expect to write 20-30 pages over the course of the six-week session.

Course Outcomes:

Students will gain confidence in creating the worlds of their literary stories.
Students will develop an analytical eye towards their own work and write a brief optional reflection assignment outlining an overview of their current work-in-progress and/or their creative process.
Each student will participate in several in class activities designed to strengthen their ability to respond to graceful feedback from their classmates and to offer constructive feedback to their peers.
tudents will create or revise a creative work 10-20 pages in length and receive one-on-one feedback from the instructor.
Students will learn to get their work publication ready.
