Fall 2016: Beginning the Novel

This class will put you on the path to writing a book-length work of fiction. Class time will be devoted to generative exercises focused on developing character, plot and setting. At the end of this class, participants will have a plan for going forward with their novel and strategies for setting up a focused writing schedule.

Gina Ochsner is the author of The Hidden Letters of Velta B, The Russian Dreambook of Color and Flight, a novel long-listed for the Orange Prize, and two story collections. Her awards include the Flannery O’Connor Award, the William Faulkner Prize, the Oregon Book Award, Guggenheim and NEA grants, and the Raymond Carver Prize.
