Generative Poetry Class with Martha Silano
April 27th, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. ($75)
Martha Silano welcomes poets of all levels to join her in a three-hour generative workshop using guided prompts from her newly released book, The Daily Poet: Day-By-Day Writing Prompts For Your Writing Practice (Two Sylvias Press), which she co-edited with poet Kelli Russell Agodon. Martha will provide a welcoming and positive environment, along with plenty of inspiration, as she guides participants through several writing exercise prompts using detailed guidelines and handouts. Participants will create new work in a supportive setting, with the option of sharing their creations with other group members. Both instructor and participants will refrain from all editorial and critical feedback, focusing instead on encouraging whimsy, wildness, and poetic risk. Bring your notebook and pen, along with a willingness to experiment and have fun.
Martha Silano is the author of four books of poetry: What the Truth Tastes Like, Blue Positive, Saturnalia Books Prize Winner The Little Office of the Immaculate Conception, and Reckless Lovely (2014). Her poems have appeared in Paris Review, North American Review, Ploughshares, Kenyon Review Online, Prairie Schooner, The Cincinnati Review, AGNI, and in over two dozen print anthologies. Martha is also the author, with Kelli Russell Agodon, of The Daily Poet: Day-By-Day Prompts For Your Writing Practice.
