Give Us the Ballot: Voting Rights and the 2016 Election

Sat, Nov 7, 2015 from 11:00 am - 11:50 am
1219 SW Park Avenue Portland, OR 97205

Fifty years after the passage of the landmark Voting Rights Act, Americans are still fighting battles over race, representation, and political power. In Give Us the Ballot: The Modern Struggle for Voting Rights in America, The Nation’s Ari Berman tells the story of what happened after the passing of the VRA in 1965 and the turbulent forces it unleashed for the first time. His narrative history provides new insight into one of the most vital political and civil rights issues of our time. Interviewed by John Freeman (editor of Freeman’s and Tales of Two Cities).
