An ode to the ethereal, In the Mist: Giving Voice to Silence captures Oregon’s mist-clad landscapes, urbanscapes, and coastline in Russell J.Young’s painterly photographs. These images, reverberating alongside the
poetic responses by seven esteemed Oregon poets–Margaret Chula, Cindy Williams Gutiérrez, Diane Holland, Andrea Hollander, Paulann Petersen, Donna Prinzmetal, and Penelope Scambly Schott–pay tribute to the silence that emerges from wonder.
This multi-media arts event will feature the projectionof Young’s photographs accompanied by a reading by the Pearl Poets as well as Young’s projected images accompanied by pianist and composer Renée Michele’s original score. This will be followed by an artists’ conversation with the audience moderated by Meg Roland, English Chair of Marylhurst University. Join us for a celebration of Oregon’s natural beauty in photograph and poem.
