@LiteraryArts is proud to present Joshua Beckman, John Beer, and Zachary Schomburg in coversation and reading new work.
Joshua Beckman is the author of nine books, including The Inside of an Apple (Wave Books, 2013), Take It, Shake, Your Time Has Come, and two collaborations with Matthew Rohrer: Nice Hat. Thanks. and Adventures While Preaching the Gospel of Beauty. He is an editor at Wave Books and has translated numerous works of poetry and prose, including Micrograms, by Jorge Carrera Andrade, 5 Meters of Poems (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2010) by Carlos Oquendo de Amat and Poker (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2008) by Tomaž Šalamun, which was a finalist for the PEN America Poetry in Translation Award.
John Beer is the author of The Waste Land and Other Poems (Canarium, 2010), which won the Norma Farber First Book Award from the Poetry Society of America. A graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, he lived on the Greek island of Patmos for two years in the late 1990s, where he served as literary assistant to Robert Lax. He currently teaches creative writing in the MFA program at Portland State University. He most recently edited a collection of poems by Robert Lax, Poems (1962-1997), published by Wave Books in fall 2013.
Zachary Schomburg is the author of FjordsVol. 1, which won the 2013 Oregon Book Award for poetry. His other books include The Man Suit, Scary, No Scary, and the forthcoming The Book of Joshua. He co-edits Octopus Books and co-curates the Bad Blood Reading Series.
