The Oregon Book Awards Author Tour brings Lindsay Hill and Amy Schutzer to the Albany Public Library for reading and conversation.
Lindsay Hill has published six books of poetry. Sea of Hooks is his first novel and is a 2015 Oregon Book Award finalist in fiction. Sea of Hooks follows the journeys of Christopher Westall, an idiosyncratic child, who accesses an alternative world that converges with everyday reality to bring meaning to a life shattered by trauma.
Amy Schutzer is an award-winning poet and fiction writer. Her novel Spheres of Disturbance is a 2015 Oregon Book Award finalist in fiction. Her other books include Undertow and a chapbook of poetry Taking the Scarecrows Down. Spheres of Disturbance is the story of how one character’s impending death affects the living in a tumble of urgency, lies, and eventual surrender to the truth of love and death. Set over the course of one day in 1985, nine characters -mother and daughter, sisters, lovers and a gravid pig named Charlotta-revolve through Spheres of Disturbance and remind us of the power in facing both life and death with open heart and unblinking eyes.
