Whitney Otto, Jay Ponteri, and C.B. Bernard will appear at the Cannery Pier Hotel in Astoria (10 Basin Street) on Sunday, May 4th as part of the Oregon Book Awards Author Tour. Two free writing workshops will be offered, followed by an author talk and reception.
10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Flash Fiction and Flash Memoir Workshop, taught by Whitney Otto. Participants in this three hour workshop will write two or three flash fictions or flash memoirs. 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Nonfiction Workshop with Jay Ponteri. In this workshop, participants will look at two examples of prose memoir in which the writer uses the poet’s tools of meditation, dream, and lyricism, and then do their own memory-based writing and informally critique one another’s work.
