Overcoming Writer’s Block: Getting Unstuck

January 15-16, 2022
Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (2 sessions)
Online via Zoom

What happens when your flow has flown? Often, the writer will stop writing and become overwhelmed with the stress that they’re not writing. Enter Writer’s Block. The writer needs to learn how to listen to voice rather than forcing the story along, give themselves the space to let the story percolate, and get rid of that irritating Shoulder Editor.

This class will include:

  • examining moments of being “stuck”
  • writing exercises to get the juices flowing
  • Fast Breakouts where students will work together to produce a story outline
  • sharing work with other students

This class will demonstrate that employing the Alice Through the Looking Glass theory – if you want to get into the house, walk away from it – is an invaluable writing tool, and will help students see their writing more creatively and effectively.

Access Program
We want our writing classes to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income and background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our Access Program offers writing class registrations at a reduced rate. The access program for writing classes covers 60% of the class tuition. Most writing classes have at least one access spot available.

Please apply here for access rate tuition. Contact Susan Moore at susan@literary-arts.org if you have questions.
