Magic Powers: P.C. & Kristin Cast and Aaron Durán

Sat, Nov 5, 2022 from 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm PDT
1422 SW 11th Ave Portland, Oregon 97201

General Admission Pass required for entry

Something wicked this way comes… things get witchy in the new novel from superstar mother-daughter duo P. C. and Kristin Cast, about twin sister witches; and in the new graphic novel from Aaron Durán a young bruja reckons with her magical inheritance. Moderated by Heidi Schulz (Hook’s Revenge).

Masks are required at this event.

The second book in P. C. and Kristin Cast‘s Sisters of Salem trilogy, Omens Bite, features twin sisters, Mercy and Hunter; they are witches, direct descendants of the Goode family, the founders of their town. After the murder of their mother at the hands of a foul demon, they have become the protectors of the Gates to different underworlds–ancient portals between their world and realms where mythology rules and the darkest of creatures exist.

Aaron Durán‘s Season of the Bruja follows a young woman as she comes into her magical abilities and faces reemergent threats from the past. From a young age, Althalia knew she would someday be the last of her kind—a bruja, tasked with keeping the power and stories of the ancient ways from fading fully into history. Never alone, Althalia works in a paranormal museum with her friends, a real-life Chupacabra and a were-coyote, while living with and caring for her beloved abuela. Through these powerful connections, her skills and knowledge grow. She must realize her destiny and grow into it quickly if she is to prevent the church from achieving its ultimate goal—destroying the last bruja.

Portland Book Festival General Admission Passes are required for entry into all events. Passes are $15 in advance and $25 day of Festival. She rediscovered her passion for storytelling in the stacks at dusty bookstores and in rickety chairs in old coffeehouses. For as long as she can remember, Kristin’s been telling stories. Thankfully, she’s been writing them down since 2005. Her latest is Omens Bite
