Poetry and Video: Rachel Hadas, Jonathan Edwards, & Shalom Gorewitz
Rachel Hadas is the author of over a dozen books of poetry, essays, and translations, most recently The Golden Road (2012). She has received a Guggenheim Fellowship in Poetry, an Ingram Merrill Foundation grant in poetry, and an award in literature from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters
Shalom Gorewitz’ work has been featured in three Whitney Museum Biennals, shown in galleries, museums, festivals and cultural centers worldwide.
For the past year, Hadas and Gorewitz have been collaborating on short videos featuring her poetry and his visuals.
Joining them for this reading will be Rachel’s son, Portland resident Jonathan Edwards.
Jonathan H. Edwards, son of poet Rachel Hadas and composer George Edwards, is a newly-minted healing artist (graduating in June with a Masters in Oriental Medicine). He believes, unequivocally, in magic, and is fascinated by the power of symbols and stories to catalyze transformation on deep and subtle levels.
