Emily Arrow

Emily Arrow creates songs about books! Formerly a K-6 music educator, Emily’s passion for books led her to create music that promotes literacy. Formerly in Tennessee, now based in Texas, Emily brings picture books to life by collaborating with bestselling authors and publishers. Emily’s YouTube Channel is a classroom sensation with over 19,000 followers and an average of 800,000 views per year, and she makes over 60 classroom and library visits a year. Emily also shares her passion for literacy and music by offering workshops, classes and weekly story times. StudioA Place for Art to Start is Emily’s first book for children.

Andrés Salguero grew up in Bogotá, Colombia, and learned how to play the guitar from his father at an early age. He had his first studio experience at age eight, and from there he went on to earn a Doctorate in music and won the National Composition Contest in Colombia for one of his early songs. Since then, Andrés and his partner Christina -- together, 123 Andrés -- won the Latin Grammy for Best Children’s Album in 2016, the Parent’s Choice Gold Award, and a Notable Children’s Recording by the American Library Association. Their Latin Grammy nominated debut album, ¡Uno, Dos, Tres Andrés en español y en inglés!, was hailed by the Boston Globe: "Joyous new album… hopscotches around the Spanish-speaking world, seamlessly switching from bachata and bolero to mariachi and vallenato."

Ben Clanton

Brooke Smith

Brooke Smith is a poet and children's book author. Her most recent book is The Keeper of Wild Words. She lives in Bend, Oregon, at the end of a long cinder lane. Brooke writes daily from her studio, looking at the meadow and many of the wild words she cherishes.

Ebony Glenn

Ebony Glenn is an Atlanta-based illustrator who enjoys bringing stories to life with whimsical illustrations. With a passion for the arts and great storytelling, she aims to create art that brings more joy and magic into people’s lives. Ebony is the illustrator of Mommy’s Khimar, selected as a best book of the year by NPR; Not Quite Snow White, by Ashley Franklin; Beacon to Freedom: The Story of a Conductor on the Underground Railroad, by Jenna Glatzer; Red Shoes, by Karen English; and the upcoming picture book biography Brave Ballerina: The Story of Janet Collins by Michelle Meadows.

J. Kenji López-Alt My is a New York Times food columnist, and the Chief Culinary Advisor for Serious Eats, home of the best, most thoroughly-tested and explained recipes and food features, well, pretty much anywhere. Additionally, he's the chef (and a partner) at Wursthall in San Mateo, a German-inspired California beer hall and restaurant. His first children’s book, Every Night is Pizza Night, illustrated by Gianna Ruggiero, was released in September. López-Alt lives in San Mateo with his wife Adriana, his daughter Alicia, and their two dogs, Jamón and Shabu.

Jessixa Bagley

Jessixa Bagley grew up in Portland, OR. Upon becoming an adult, she decided to follow her childhood dreams of being a picture-book maker. Her debut picture book, Boats for Papa, has earned many accolades and awards, including a Junior Library Guild selection, 2016 ALA Notable, the SCBWI 2016 Golden Kite Award for Best Picture Book Text, as well as the 2016 Washington State Scandiuzzi Children's Book Award. Her recent picture book Laundry Day was a Junior Library Guild Selection and also received a 2018 Ezra Jack Keats Award Honor. Recently, Bagley illustrated Curious EnCOUNTers, written by Ben Clanton. She lives in Seattle, WA, with her husband, son, and a slew of houseplants that all have names.

Jorma Taccone

Jorma Taccone is a comedian, director, and writer. He is one-third of the comedy group The Lonely Island with Akiva Schaffer and Andy Samberg. Jorma has an Emmy, multiple Writers Guild Awards, and a Peabody, which he does not think he deserves. Born in Berkeley, California, he now lives in New York City with his wife, Marielle, and their son, Wylie. Little Fox and the Wild Imagination, illustrated by Dan Santat, is his first picture book.

Nidhi Chanani likes to dream kind and creative dreams. Tami Charles

Tami Charles is a former teacher and full-time author of picture books, middle grade and young adult novels, and nonfiction. As a teacher, she made it her mission to introduce her students to all types of literature, but especially diverse books. While it was refreshing to see a better selection than what she was accustomed to as a child, Tami felt there weren’t nearly as many diverse books as she’d hoped for. It was then that she decided to reignite her passion for writing. Tami is the author of middle grade novels Like Vanessa and Definitely Daphne; Becoming Beatriz, a YA novel; and the picture books Freedom Soup and All Because You Matter.
