Weaving Small Fragments: The Lyric Essay

May 10 - 31, 2023, Wednesdays, 6:00-8:00 (four sessions)

$190

The lyric essay is a form that allows many small fragments to be drawn together to create a whole. A lyric essay might hold memories, research, a bit of poetry, a bit of fiction; it celebrates mixing genres. In this workshop, we will write a series of fragments in response to prompts, and then braid them together into essays. You will leave the workshop with a sense of how small pieces of writing can grow into essays. By the end of the 4 weeks, you will have at least one lyric essay to share. If you have taken this class with Perrin before, she will offer new prompts and examples.

Access Program
We want our classes to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income and background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our Access Program offers class registrations at a reduced rate. The access program for writing classes covers 60% of the class tuition. Most writing classes have at least one access spot available.

Please apply here for access rate tuition. Contact Susan Moore at susan@literary-arts.org if you have questions.
