David Banis & Hunter Shobe

David Banis has managed the Center for Spatial Analysis and Research in the Department of Geography at Portland State University since 2006. He teaches courses on cartography and geographic information systems. His work explores the diverse ways that cartographers can tell stories with maps, with a focus on public participatory mapping.

Hunter Shobe is a cultural geographer and an associate professor in the Department of Geography at Portland State University. He holds a PhD in geography from the University of Oregon. His research explores the cultural and political dimensions of how people connect to and create meaning in different places.

David Banis and Hunter Shobe are appearing at “Portland: Love It and Leave It (all ages)” as part of Lit Crawl Portland the evening of November 7, 7:30–8:15 p.m. at Michelle’s Piano Shop.

Events, Classes, and Seminars

Our events, classes, and seminars bring the community together to hear, learn, and discuss the most compelling issues and ideas of our day. We hope you will join us in our downtown Literary Arts space, online, and at partnering venues across Portland and Oregon.
