Elena Passarello is the author of two collections of essays: Let Me Clear My Throat, a finalist for the 2014 Oregon Book Award, and the forthcoming Animals Strike Curious Poses, both with Sarabande Books. This year, her work has appeared in the anthologies After Montaigne, Cat is Art Spelled Wrong, and I’ll Tell You Mine: Thirty Years of Essays from the University of Iowa Nonfiction Program. Other essays have appeared in journals including Oxford American, Iowa Review, Slate, Creative Nonfiction, and the Normal School. Elena is a faculty member at Oregon State University, and is the recipient of the 2015 Whiting Award in nonfiction.
