Jey Tehya

Jey Tehya is a writer born and raised in Oregon. Tehya is the author of the forthcoming novel The Wrong Kind of Indian published by Wyatt-MacKenzie Press as well as two forthcoming books of poetry including Orygun from Smooth Stones Press and Secret-Telling Bones from the Operating System Press. One of Tehya’s previous poetry collections was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. As the founder of a Portland, Oregon writing service company, Tehya serves a variety of clients, including Fortune 500 enterprises and major media outlets. The business received two national bronze awards for Startup of the Year from the American Business Awards and the Golden Bridge Awards in 2015.

Tehya received a Writers in the Schools (WITS) residency from the Oregon Literary Arts Council for 2015-16. A member of the Cherokee Nation, Tehya offers complimentary writing and editing services through her company to Native American students and non-profits based in the Pacific Northwest and/or serving Native communities.
