Joamette Gil is a queer, Afro-Cuban, Eisner Award-winning comics author, and founder of P&M Press. As a creator, she specializes in short stories, best known for her luminous representations of queer people of color across multiple genres, from speculative fiction to educational works. As a publisher and editor, her goal is to empower LGBTQIA and BIPOC creators to live their truths while also making a living. Her independent comics imprint publishes such lauded titles as Power & Magic: The Queer Witch Comics Anthology and Heartwood: Non-binary Tales of Sylvan Fantasy. By day, she also serves as Managing Editor for Weird Enough, a Black-owned social impact organization that uses diverse media (including comics) to empower youth and the adults who support them. Her heart resides in Miami, FL, while her body does its thing in Portland, OR.
