All classes meet at Literary Arts, 925 SW Washington.

This workshop will explore the uses of tarot and other forms of divination as an intrinsic part of the writing process. The benefits of this practice are multiple. Tarot helps writers:
*Understand story structure and character archetypes
*Create characters with believable
*Access their creative ability
*Inject life and surprising stakes into their work
*Break through creative blocks
The class incorporates a basic introduction to the cards, writing exercises and a discussion of the various ways writers use tarot in their work.

Michelle Ruiz Keilis a Latinx novelist and playwright with an eye for the enchanted and a way with animals. She teaches writing with a focus on fairytale, divination, and archetype and curates All Kinds of Fur: A Fairytale Reading Series and Salon. Her debut novel All of Us with Wings is forthcoming from Soho Teen in 2019.

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE: Scholarships pay for the entire class tuition. All of our writing classes have at least one scholarship position available, made possible by a generous gift from Dennis Steinman. In addition, list three classes in order of preference, why you would like to request a scholarship, and if you have taken a Literary Arts class before. Please note that preference is not guaranteed. All scholarships are subject to availability. Scholarship availability is confirmed 1-2 weeks before the class begins.

CLASS LIAISONS: All classes have one liaison position. Liaisons receive free tuition in exchange for light duties before and after each class meeting.
