A generative workshop for writers who like to “think funny” and want to learn more about writing humorous essays with a strong sense of voice and timing.  Subjects covered include where to mine your material, the comedic benefits of truth-telling, and Sarah Silverman’s best advice about learning to edit yourself.

 Courtenay Hameister is a columnist, teacher, playwright, and author. Her work has appeared in McSweeney’s, Oregon Humanities Magazine, and for twelve years on Live Wire Radio. Her book Okay Fine Whatever: The Year I Went From Being Afraid of Everything to Only Being Afraid of Most Things will be published in February of 2018 from Little, Brown.
