Class meets at Literary Arts, 925 SW Washington
Instructor: Erica Trabold
For writers at all levels

Students who have taken “Establishing a Writing Practice” at Literary Arts should find this class an appropriate next step. “Establishing a Writing Practice” is not a pre-requisite. This class is specifically designed for writers who are ready to share work with an audience but aren’t yet working toward a book or large project.

Attending a writing workshop can sometimes feel daunting, especially for those of us who have developed a writing practice but aren’t yet working toward a large project of any kind. This exploratory workshop is designed for writers somewhere in-between. Instead of finished work, participants are encouraged to share their half-starts and early drafts. Together, we will probe the material for potential themes and controlling ideas, offering feedback in an effort to help each writer better understand the work they are already producing. This workshop is intended to help writers take the next step toward finishing (or beginning) a small project that might otherwise seem out of reach.

Erica Trabold’s essays have appeared in South Dakota Review, Essay Daily, Seneca Review, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. Erica was a 2016 artist-in-residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts.

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE: Scholarships pay for the entire class tuition. All of our writing classes have at least one scholarship position available, made possible by a generous gift from Dennis Steinman. To apply, email Susan Moore, Director of Programs for Writers, at susan@literary-arts.org with your name, contact information. In addition, list three classes in order of preference, why you would like to request a scholarship, and if you have taken a Literary Arts class before. Please note that preference is not guaranteed. All scholarships are subject to availability. Scholarship availability is confirmed 1-2 weeks before the class begins.

CLASS LIAISONS: All classes have one liaison position. Liaisons receive free tuition in exchange for light duties before and after each class meeting. Contact Susan Moore at susan@literary-arts.org for more information.
