A roundtable for writers at all levels

Writing an author bio to include with your submissions to journals, fellowships and other professional opportunites can be daunting. Learn the ins and outs of what a bio is, why it’s important, and how to write one that’s authentic to you and professional. We’ll focus on short bio writing, offer/receive feedback from peers, and walk away with at least one solid bio (but hopefully two or more)!

Emily Prado is an award-winning multimedia journalist. A Chicana native of the San Francisco Bay Area, she has been writing and photographing since she was a child though studied education, social work, and library sciences after high school. Using an intersectional feminist framework, her work typically focuses on stories of marginalized communities in a wide range of topics. Her writing has appeared in nearly two dozen publications such as NPR, The Oregonian, Marie Claire, Bitch Media, the Portland Mercury, Feministing, Remezcla, and Travel Oregon amongst others.
