How to attend Portland Book Festival 2016
Portland Book Festival (formerly Wordstock) featured on-stage author interviews and discussions, children’s programming, YA events, pop-up readings, an extended book fair, writing workshops, live music, food trucks and a beer and wine garden. Portland Book Festival took place from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at the Portland Art Museum and surrounding venues in downtown Portland.
Advance tickets were $15 (purchased before November 4). Tickets purchased on the day of the festival are $18. Admission to the festival is free for attendees 17 and under and with a valid high school student ID.

Your festival ticket admits you to all festival venues and events, and there are no additional tickets required for individual events during the festival day on Saturday, November 5, 2016. At all venues and all events, entry and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis; standing in line does not guarantee entry. Rooms will be cleared between sessions. No one will be admitted to a full event session unless another attendee leaves that session.
2016 LOCATIONS AND VENUE INFORMATION
We expanded the 2016 Portland Book Festival to include six new partner venues in the blocks surrounding the Portland Art Museum (PAM)—the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, the Winningstad Theatre, Brunish Theatre, The Old Church, the Oregon Historical Society, and the Northwest Film Center—as well as returning to the First Congregational United Church of Christ.
PLEASE NOTE: All attendees must purchase or pick up tickets from the box office on SW Park Avenue in front of PAM before entering any venues. Buy your ticket online before the festival to avoid long lines at the door! We have expanded the box office area to improve wait times and ticket pick up in 2016.

BOOK SIGNINGS AND POLICIES
All festival books for participating YA and adult fiction and nonfiction authors will be sold at the Powell’s bookstore in the Kridel Grand Ballroom on the third floor of the Mark Building at the Portland Art Museum. All books for children’s picture book and middle grade authors will be sold at the Green Bean Books bookstore, stage-side in the kids’ area at the Miller Gallery on the first floor of the Mark Building at the Portland Art Museum.
Authors will sign books immediately following the end of their event. Attendees are strongly encouraged to purchase books they want signed in advance of the event. Authors on the stages at PAM, Portland’5, Oregon Historical Society, and the Old Church will sign in the Kridel Grand Ballroom on the third floor of PAM; authors at the stage at UCC will sign at the Fellowship Hall at UCC. However, please note that all books, including those for authors appearing at stages outside of PAM, will be sold at the Powell’s bookstore in the Kridel at PAM. Again, we strongly encourage you to buy books you want signed in advance of the event.
Books must be purchased from Powell’s or Green Bean bookstores at Portland Book Festival in order to be signed, with the exception of one pre-owned book that may be brought for signing. All books purchased at Portland Book Festival, at the Powell’s bookstore, and at any and all of the book fair vendors support the authors and publishers who travel from near and far to share their work at the festival, and the booksellers and vendors who invest time and expense to be at the book fair. Literary Arts asks attendees to respect and follow this policy. A receipt from Powell’s or Green Bean must be presented in the book signing area. Thank you for your support and understanding.
Remember: your $5 voucher is good at any vendor at the book fair! Please buy early and often and know you are supporting the sustainability of Portland Book Festival.
Book dealers are NOT allowed to bring books into the book signing area. Dealers with rolling carts and/or wagons are not allowed on the festival grounds.
All festival venues are wheelchair accessible.
Sign language interpreters will be available on a limited basis. If you need an interpreter, please contact Literary Arts by email or at 503-227-2583 no later than October 21 to request an interpreter for a specific event.
FOOD AND DRINK
Local favorite food carts Bunk Sandwiches, Pip’s Original, Ruby Jewel Ice Cream, Tamale Boy, Tastebud, and The Whole Bowl will be vending breakfast and lunch in the Lower Sculpture Mall between the Portland Art Museum Main and Mark buildings and on SW Park Avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For attendees 21 and older, beer and wine will be available in the Upper Sculpture Mall from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Coffee and snacks will be available from Ole Latte outside the Kridel Grand Ballroom at Portland Art Museum, and the Museum Grounds Cafe will be open.
Portland Book Festival also encourages attendees to visit the Portland Farmers Market on the Portland State University campus, just a five-minute walk south from the Portland Art Museum and open until 2:00 PM. Cookbook authors appearing at Portland Book Festival will be doing cooking demonstrations at the market, and attendees can enjoy food and drink from a variety of local vendors.
Festival attendees will receive wristbands to allow for re-entry all day.
