The 2018 Portland Book Festival offers 10 writing workshops, 2 free workshops for youth, and 1 free workshop for teachers.
This year’s workshop offerings include how to start writing, dialogue, mindfulness, adaptation, trauma, flash fiction, storytelling, memoir, tarot, and getting unstuck; all festival workshops are here. Register now; classes are expected to sell out! Registration for writing workshops includes a festival pass and book voucher. Writing workshops are two hours and limited to 15 students. Aside from the Youth Programs free workshops, all writing workshops are held at the Northwest Film Center. Workshop students can pick up their festival wristbands at the NWFC; they do not have to go to the festival box office.
The festival offers three free workshops: comics for middle school students, social justice for high school students, and poetry for high school teachers. These workshops will meet in the Kinney Classroom at the Portland Art Museum. Registration is highly recommended as space is limited.
