Teaching for Literary Arts

Literary Arts is happy to hear from experienced teachers interested in offering multi-week or one-day writing classes for adults. Instructors should be knowledgeable about the craft of writing and/or publishing, have teaching experience, and some publishing credits. We are especially interested in receiving class proposals from writers of color, Oregon Book Awards authors and Oregon Literary Fellowships recipients who teach in the genres of fiction and nonfiction. Our teachers are contracted for individual classes.

Literary Arts is accepting class proposals for writing classes from teachers for  Spring, Summer and Fall 2021. Until further notice, these offerings would be online only, using Zoom or Wet Ink.

Our classes are limited in size and focused on specific writing goals. Before sending us a proposal, we encourage interested teachers to read class descriptions of our current and past offerings to get an idea of the kind of classes we offer.

To apply to teach a writing class at Literary Arts, please submit the following:

1-2 page CV, including publication history and teaching experience
1 page statement of your teaching philosophy
2-3 course proposals (no more than a page each). The class proposals should include specific outcomes for the class.

Please send materials in a single Word or PDF document via email to Susan Moore at   susan@literary-arts.org.  Please contact Susan with any questions!
