Writing Prompts for Stay-At-Home Writers: Emily Chenoweth

Welcome to Friday’s edition of  Writing Prompts for Stay-at-Home Writers. Today’s prompt is from Emily Chenoweth.

Emily Chenoweth teaches our popular Writing A Novel in 8 Weeks class. She is the author of the novel Hello Goodbye (Random House), which was a finalist for an Oregon Book Award and named one of the top ten Northwest books of 2009 by The Oregonian. She’s also a co-author of the books  Klawde: Evil Alien Warlord Cat #1  and Klawde: Evil Alien Warlord Cat: Enemies #2. She shared the following prompt, which she says “might be a prompt that originally came from Abigail Thomas, author of Three Dog Night and other lovely books.”

Prompt:

“Write two pages of what you have too much of.

(In this case, the “you” could be actually you, or you could write as one of your characters)”

Tune in next Tuesday for a prompt from Hannah Kim. Our friends at Poets and Writers also post terrific writing prompts on a regular basis. Let us know how you’re doing, and how your writing is going. Email Susan Moore, Director of Programs for Writers, at susan@literary-arts.org.
