Aaron Gilbreath is the author of The Heart of California: Exploring the San Joaquin Valley (University of Nebraska Press), a 2022 Oregon Book Award finalist in Creative Nonfiction. His essays have appeared in Harper’s, The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Dublin Review, been nominated for a James Beard Award, and named notable in Best American Essays, Best American Travel Writing, and Best American Sports Writing.
