PBF Cover to Cover: Poetry Karaoke with Mule on Fire

Poetry Karaoke lets audience members perform a poem, accompanied by the Portland/Corvallis-based band Mule on Fire. Audience members pick a poem from the Poetry Karaoke book (like picking a song from an available song list during real karaoke . . . a curated book with well-known published poems–from Shakespeare to Dr. Seuss). When they’re up, audience members spin the musical genre wheel (a wheel with various musical genres–Ska, Funk, Hair Metal, Prom Ballad, etc.). Mule on Fire plays a song from the selected musical genre, and the audience member takes a moment to feel the music . . . then lets loose. Celebrity judges rank each performance, and at the end of the evening a Poetry Karaoke Champion is crowned for that year.
