BOLD AND UNAFRAID: FICTION FOR THE NOW
Ever felt like your lived experience—and how you express it on the page—doesn’t fit the mold of a traditional writing workshop? Are you ready to support and empower others who feel the same? This workshop is designed for writers who want to embrace political and social justice-driven stories without hesitation.
In this three-hour session, we will read excerpts from authors belonging to underrepresented communities in this country. Together, we’ll discuss how they challenge and confront power and systems of oppression through their craft.
Participants will then have multiple opportunities to engage in generative short-fiction writing inspired by current events and urgent social realities. You’ll be invited to share your work if you choose, receiving supportive, non-critical feedback and encouragement within an anti-racist framework.
This class is for those pursuing urgent writing—writing that answers the question: “Why now?” We live in unprecedented times, and writers are needed now more than ever. Your stories are needed.
Access Program
We want our writing classes and seminars to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income and background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our Access Program offers writing class and seminar tuitions at a reduced rate. Most writing classes have at least one access spot available.
Please apply here for access rate tuition. Contact Susan Moore at susan@literary-arts.org if you have questions.
Liaison position
Every in-person class and seminar at Literary Arts has one liaison position. Liaisons perform specific duties for each class meeting. If you are a liaison for a class or seminar, the full amount of your tuition is covered by Literary Arts.
