Hate It or Love It
by Emaan Behboodi from Wilson High School
Published in the 2007-2008 WITS Anthology I Once Was Young and Strong (Available for purchase)
I despise that I never stop to try,
I adore how you give me a reason to live for,
I execrate that my heart…you desecrate,
I worship your every trait,
I shudder that everything I said went down the gutter,
I fancy the smile you still give me,
I abhor that by the day…I need you more,
I idolize the beautiful gaze in your eyes,
I reject that my heart has an unfinished project,
I cherish my feelings…they will never perish,
I loathe my heart’s oath,
I yearn for my body’s eternal burn,
I sicken at the thought of your boyfriend and his fake act,
I admire your desire,
I wish you were single…free as a dove,
I want you to know that this isn’t hate,
It’s love.
