On Monday, April 14, 2025, Dave Miller from OPB’s Think Out Loud interviewed McDaniel High School teacher-librarian Nancy Sullivan, who started the Madison High School poetry slam in 2005, which evolved into the city-wide Verselandia! Youth Poetry Slam Championship presented by Literary Arts today. Other guests were past Verselandia competitor Alex Dang, and last year’s Verselandia! Grand Slam Champion, and competitor this year Qiana Woods of Parkrose High School.
The 2025 annual Verselandia! Youth Poetry Slam Championship will take place on Thursday, April 24, at 7:00 p.m. at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. Tickets start at $20 (and a free for anyone aged 17 or under, or with a valid high school ID). Click here for tickets.
