Meet Our Cafe Partners

The Literary Arts Cafe—located in our newly opened permanent headquarters at 716 SE Grand Ave, Portland, OR—is excited to work with incredible local and global partners that are committed to creating a perfect coffee, delicious pastries, and a warm welcoming environment, all while promoting sustainability and supporting our local community.

In anticipation of our cafe opening on Saturday, June 14, 2025, we would like to share more information on the partners who will be joining us on this journey.

Upper Left Coffee Rosters

The café will be using Upper Left Coffee Roasters, a local, women-owned roasting company in the heart of Ladd’s Addition in Portland, Oregon. During our time working with them, they have created a signature coffee blend to create a curated experience for Literary Arts patrons. Using a blend of Ethiopian and Guatemalan coffees, the Literary Arts blend has a bright and floral start and a full-bodied finish, notes of almond cookie, crisp apple and chocolate mousse create a memorable experience with every sip.

OKAPI Reusables

Though we expect to pull the perfect espresso shots, Literary Arts Cafe is committed to sustainably and supporting our local community. Coffee is an ever-growing industry, there are new ways to consume, create and curate coffee beans every day. Unfortunately, this can lead to a lot of waste. In the US, almost 120-billion single use disposable cups get thrown away annually. Literary Arts has paired with OKAPI Reusables, a woman-owned company based in Portland, to reduce this waste. OKAPI Reusables provides reusable cups to subscribers who can order a coffee at the café, take home a reusable cup and return it when it is time for their next coffee fix.

Minor Figures

Minor Figures, who we will be using for our oat milk, is also dedicated to environmental sustainability, stating  “If we want to continue to enjoy sipping on a great cup of coffee each morning, we need to make sure we’re contributing to a world that can continue to support the production of coffee beans.” They are working to neutralize their carbon footprint all together, committing to 100% carbon neutrality as the basis of their business.

As we continue to grow, the local and global partners we work with will too. Join us on Saturday, June 14 to celebrate our grand opening! From 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. we will have some fun giveaways courtesy of: Farina Bakery, Upper Left Coffee Roasters, OKAPI Reusables, Minor Figures oat milk, and of course, the Literary Arts Bookstore!
