Portland has been making a name for itself in the culinary world with its eclectic selection of food carts, restaurants like Le Pigeon, and Gregory Gourdet. Portland Book Festival is excited to have a selection of events that celebrate culinary creativity this year. If you were going to go full foodie for the festival, here’s what we recommend:
The Foodie Festival
Monday, November 6th
5 days Before the Festival!
Attend your first Cover to Cover event! The Cover to Cover program is an eclectic mix of fun events organized by community partners across the metro area that expands Portland Book Festival. This additional programming is aimed at going beyond the scope of a traditional reading or author panel. Past events have included a mock burial, tea ceremonies, and poetry karaoke!
6:00 – 8:00 pm at Vivienne Culinary Books.
This event is a cookbook launch party: Family Thai with Arnold Myint | Book Launch Party. This event is ticketed, so be sure to plan ahead.

Hosted at Vivienne Culinary Books, this event will celebrate the Nashville-based, James Beard nominated chef, restaurateur and celebrated drag queen and his cookbook inspired by his own family.
Friday, November 7th
1 Day Before the festival!
Attend Reader’s Night! This is the night before the official Portland Book Festival and takes place in the same spot.
6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Portland Art Museum: Mark Building
Salt & Straw will be providing free ice cream samples in anticipation of Tyler Malek’s (Head Ice Cream Maker and Co-Founder of the Portland-based Salt & Straw Ice Cream) panel the next day with Joshua McFadden.

Saturday, November 8th
Day of the festival!
As a foodie, there are three stops we’re prioritizing for the day of the festival:

- The Sweet and Sour Panel (12:45 – 1:45 pm at the Portland Parks Foundation Tent at Shemanski Park)
- The Noodles and Scoops Panel (3:00 – 4:00 pm at The Old Church)
- In the Exhibition Hall:

- [Afternoon/Evening Food Carts]
