Since 2020, Literary Arts has partnered with Green Bean Books to bring Portland Book Festival authors to local elementary and middle schools. This year was no exception, with four participating PBF authors making some seriously cool class visits:
- October 23: Charise Mericle Harper at Sunnyside Elementary and Sabin Elementary
- November 3: Pedro Martín & Nikkolas Smith at Oregon Episcopal School
- November 8: Breena Bard, Winner of the 2021 Oregon Book Award in Graphic Literature, at Lewis Elementary

This partnership further supports children’s book authors, many of whom are based in Oregon.
It also brings the joy of reading right to young people. With dynamic lesson plans and plenty of audience participation, these class visits are a reminder anyone can be a writer or illustrator!
