Aleksandr Chernousov

Aleksandr Chernousov is a writer, visual storyteller, and film and theater director with 15 years of experience. He holds an MFA in Film Directing and an MA in Book Publishing. His writing was recognized as a "Notable Essay of 2024" in The Best American Essays 2025 Anthology. He is a recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship, an Andy Warhol Foundation grant (via PICA), a Beaverton Art Grant, an RACC Arts3C grant, and a Community Storytelling Fellowship. Aleksandr dedicates significant time to volunteering with immigrant communities in Washington and Oregon and is currently developing the Slavic Oregon storytelling project. Drawing on his background in theater and film, he merges his writing skills with his visual storytelling and performance experience. Aleksandr believes in the power of oral history and its ability to change the world and human hearts. He currently calls Oregon home.
