zehra imam is the founder of Illuminated Cities, an education organization that believes expression is fundamental to freedom; we train teachers and artists to do crisis education through the arts and work with students impacted by on-going violence. zehra is an Associate Muslim Chaplain at MIT, a 2024 Fellow at Sacred Writes, and a 2024 grant recipient of Iceland Writers Retreat. Her censored 2025 Harvard Divinity School commencement speech was published by The Intercept, and she has previously been published in The Nation, Mondoweiss, and Harvard's Religion and Public Life blog where she has written about Palestine.
