Writers in the Schools
Anthology and Readings
Showcasing remarkable student work through our annual anthology and public readings.
Being published is thrilling for writers of any age. Publication provides writers with validation, encouragement, and exposure to a larger audience. Each year, WITS publishes an anthology of exemplary student work in poetry, prose, drama, and comics. Students are encouraged to submit their work to the anthology editor, which is compiled into a book and shared with schools and the community.
2022-23 WITS Anthology
Each year, our Writers in the Schools (WITS) program publishes an anthology of exemplary student work. “Hope is a Stem” features the writing of 66 high school students across Portland, east Multnomah County, and Woodburn, Oregon.

Students are also encouraged to share their original work alongside the teachers they worked with and WITS program specialists during public readings in the community. Readings are held for each participating high school at the close of fall and spring residencies.
