ON THE TENTH SEASON OF THE ARCHIVE PROJECT, ENJOY DISCUSSIONS FROM PORTLAND ARTS & LECTURES, PORTLAND BOOK FESTIVAL, AND OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS FROM OUR HOME IN PORTLAND, OREGON AND BEYOND.
Arwen Spicer is from Sonoma Mountain in California, and holds a PhD in English literature and a BS in biology. This interdisciplinary background informs her interest in science fiction, as a reader, scholar, and writer. Her doctoral work focused on evolution and ecology in utopian science fiction, touching on the works of H. G. Wells, Ursula K. Le Guin, and Octavia Butler, among others. In more recent scholarship, she has focused on climate change, the Anthropocene, and indigeneity in science fiction. Her short fiction has appeared in Spoon Knife 4: A Neurodivergent Guide to Space Time, Challenging Destiny, and the Fabled Collective anthology Women of the Woods.
Our events, classes, and seminars bring the community together to hear, learn, and discuss the most compelling issues and ideas of our day. We hope you will join us in our downtown Literary Arts space, online, and at partnering venues across Portland and Oregon.
