Grief and The Lyric Essay

September 27, Friday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. (Pacific time) and September 28-29, Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.- noon (three sessions)

$165

How do we process, reflect, embody grief in our writing? We will consider how lyric, narrative, discursive writing, research, fragmentation and silence play different roles in lyric essays, memoir, and poetry, demonstrating a relationship between content and form. Writing prompts will allow students to access language and memory in multiple ways. In a short period, we will get to know one another and provide a sounding board for ideas in a supportive, process-based setting. Participants will leave the class with a variety of writing that they can potentially develop into longer pieces.

Access Program
We want our writing classes and Delves to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income and background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our Access Program offers writing class and Delve tuitions at a reduced rate. Most writing classes have at least one access spot available.

Please apply here for access rate tuition. Contact Susan Moore at susan@literary-arts.org if you have questions.
