The Writers Compass

March 21, 2026, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (one session)
716 SE Grand Ave Portland, OR 97214

$75

Every writer hits moments of uncertainty—when direction fades and the page feels heavy. Thisclass is designed to help you realign with your story and your process. Through guided reflection, creative exercises, and practical planning, you’ll clarify what your project is really about and why it matters. We’ll explore the emotional and structural elements that drive your writing forward, from defining your story’s core question to creating a rhythm that supports consistent progress. Whether you’re mid-draft or just beginning, this class offers tools and
inspiration to help you stay connected to your creative vision—and finish what you’ve started.

Class Goals:

Reconnect with the “why” behind your writing project
Identify your story’s central focus or question
Develop strategies for consistency and creative flow
Build confidence and motivation for continued progress

Access Program
We want our writing classes and seminars to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income and background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our Access Program offers writing class and seminar tuitions at a reduced rate. Most writing classes have at least one access spot available.

Please apply here for access rate tuition. Contact Susan Moore at susan@literary-arts.org if you have questions.

Liaison position
Every in-person class and seminar at Literary Arts has one liaison position. Liaisons perform specific duties for each class meeting. If you are a liaison for a class or seminar, the full amount of your tuition is covered by Literary Arts.
