Yallah! Muslims Write

April 16, 2025, Wednesday, 7:00-8:30 p.m. (one session)

$5

Yallah! Muslims Write is a monthly workshop with the expressed intent to foster a joyful, supportive, and courageous space for self-identifying Muslim artists.

We will begin our workshop with a short freewrite, followed by a period of voluntary sharing and feedback; next, together we will read a pre-selected flash fiction piece and discuss; finally, we’ll open things up to the group, where all will be welcome to share their stories or excerpts of their stories (five minutes total time alotted for reading) and, with permission, we as a group will once again give feedback. Then, next month, inshAllah we’ll do it all over again!

Access Program
We want our writing classes and seminars to be accessible to everyone, regardless of income and background. We understand that our tuition structure can present obstacles for some people. Our Access Program offers writing class and seminar tuitions at a reduced rate.

Please apply here for access rate tuition. Contact Susan Moore at susan@literary-arts.org if you have questions.

mhd borhan

mhd borhan (he/him) is a grey area writer and activist—his work and life existing in intersections. As an Arab/Latino/European Muslim, mhd borhan’s stories speak to the always present confusion and discomfort that comes with being an other, even amongst fellow others. In 2023, he launched Cats Love Muslims, an online space where he self-publishes short stories and editorials centered on one idea: humanization. He is currently working on his first novel, Thank You for Being White.
