In Memoriam: Ursula K. Le Guin (1929-2018)

Ursula Kroeber Le Guin was born in 1929 in Berkeley, California. She settled in Portland, Oregon with her family. Le Guin’s fictions range from young-adult adventures to wry philosophical fables. They combine compelling stories, rigorous narrative logic and a lean but lyrical style to draw readers into what she called the “inner lands” of the imagination. Literary Arts is honored to have known her, and thank her for her transformative contributions to international literature.
