2023 Portland Book Festival:
Call for Artists

Literary Arts is seeking a guest artist for Portland Book Festival‘s 2023 supplemental branding. We strongly encourage BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and those from historically marginalized and underrepresented communities to apply.

We are asking Oregon-based artists to submit their portfolio link, or upload examples of their work, for consideration (note: this just needs to be an example of your work, not necessarily what you would do for the Festival. The selected artist will receive a creative brief). Please also include a brief statement of purpose; why do you think you and your art would be a great match for Portland Book Festival?

The application window has closed for 2023. Please check again next year!

We will review portfolios on an ongoing basis. Applications close on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Our work with the artist will happen primarily between May‚ÄďAugust, and will include 2-3 rounds of feedback and updates.

The fine print:

The selected artist will receive a $2,500 award for their work. The selected artist agrees to create artwork, in collaboration with Literary Arts, that will be exclusive for use in 2023 Portland Book Festival branding, and includes a national print and digital advertising campaign. The artist will be credited for their work. The art will be placed alongside the Literary Arts logo, our presenting sponsor logo, sponsor logos, and the Portland Book Festival umbrella logo. The artwork will need to be delivered in vector format to be used across different print and digital iterations, and be able to work in both portrait, landscape, and square iterations.
