Questioner by Stephen Kenyon

Questioner
by Stephen Kenyon from Lincoln High School
Published in the 2007-2008 WITS Anthology I Once Was Young and Strong (Available for purchase)

Where am I?
Maybe I’m nowhere
Maybe somewhere
I could be in the
center of the universe
or at the edge of
some farout galaxy.
Perhaps I am in
the mind of someone
else, or in my own
mind, just waiting.
Where is up?
Where is down?
Are they even opposites?
Could I move and find myself
somewhere else, alone.
Am I at the core of
some star, or in the
middle of a nucleus
of that hydrogen atom?
Is my place right-side up
or left-side down?
Could I be a wave of
light or a presence of
darkness; seen by none?
Where am I?
I am here,
anywhere else would not
be here, and there
is too far away.
