Real Teenage Lives, Written by Real Teenage Girls (redthebook.com)

Please join acclaimed local authors Kirsten Oldroyd, Jasmine Sennhauser, Jordyn Turney and editor Amy Goldwasser of the groundbreaking RED: Teenage Girls in America Write On What Fires Up Their Lives Today for their Portland debut. This special back-to-school event features readings, signings, a book drive benefitting local girls’ orgs, schools, and libraries, a first-hand (vampire-free!) Q+A discussion of what it really means to be a teenage girl today—and the talented teen girl winners of the debut RED All Over: Portland personal essay contest**RED All Over: Portland – Teen Girl Personal Essay Contest*

Accepting submissions now! The only rules are this:
1. You must be an Oregon resident, age 13 to 19.
2. You can write about anything in your life you’d like to write about—as long as it’s true. (Your essay could be already written– perhaps you have something you wrote in class or during a writing workshop?)
3. You must be willing to get up there and read your essay—right along with the nationally published RED authors!—at the Sept 12 event.
4. You must submit your essay BY Friday, September 4, subject line “Portland essay”to amyg@redthebook.com

Winners will be notified via email by Monday September 7 and then get to work directly with RED editor Amy Goldwasser to perfect the essay so it’s in knock-em-dead shape for the big event, when they will join the RED girls in reading. Prizes TBD, but there will be something $$-scholarship along with the honor.
