At WITS, we are always looking to inform young writers about publishing opportunities. One such opportunity is the Rising Star Creative Writing Competition sponsored by The Nature of Words, a literature based non-profit serving central Oregon.
The Nature of Words states as its mission: “to strengthen and support the literary arts and humanities in Oregon and the Northwest through community interaction with acclaimed authors and through creative writing programs for youth and adults.” To achieve this mission, the organization sponsors programs such as Words Without Walls: a creative writing residency program similar to WITS, The Storefront Project, which offers free, drop in creative writing workshops to students, and The Rising Star Creative Writing Competition, which is now open for submissions.
