Writers in the Schools (WITS) began the spring reading series with students from Alliance HS @Meek sharing their work at Miss Zumstein’s Bakery and Coffee Shop. As always, the cafe provided a warm, welcoming space for students with delicious snacks and hot drinks that were especially nice on a rainy spring day.
Five students shared their poetry and prose with an audience of their peers, community members, teacher Amy Taramasso, and Principal Fast Buffalo Horse. They also talked a little about the process of writing and the difficulties of translating one’s ideas to the page. WITS writers Laura Moulton and Zeloszelos Marchandt praised each student’s willingness to take creative risks and share their work. We want to thank everyone who was involved with the reading for making it such a lovely event!
